Failures->Commitments->Success - Chris Garrett Fitness | Dream-2-Reality | Team D2R

Failures->Commitments->Success

This post is a little tough for me because I don’t really like showing my weaknesses, but it is something I think you should all know.  You may be going through or have gone through this in the past so I want you to know you are not alone.

I know first hand how tough it can be to stick with the programs.  We stuck with Power 90 pretty well and rarely went off course.  Since Power 90 is only 30-40 minutes per day we found it very easy to ensure we got our workouts done in the mornings and pressed on the rest of the day.  P90X has a longer work out time commitment.  When we started P90X we did well for the first week, but then let life get in the way of our workouts way too often.  We missed some days… actually several days.  We never changed the kinds of food we were eating so we didn’t gain the weight back that we had lost, but it did not feel good.  We had lost our momentum.  Our moods went south and weren’t as productive.  We live a very busy lifestyle so it is very easy to say “I will workout later” but later didn’t come. Since we had just started coaching, that was not acceptable.  We need to be a good example for all of you!  We had a reality check and said enough is enough.  We started over and made our workouts a priority!  Do you know what is interesting?  Due to the increase in daily productivity because we exercise every day, we get just as much if not more accomplished through the day!  Think of the time to work out as an investment.  The time you spend working out will help you get more accomplished, get you more healthy to prevent medical costs, and puts you in a better mood which is contagious to the people around you making your day more positive. Exercise along with the proper diet is essential!

Since we stuck to our commitment, we have completed P90X successfully!  We will be posting pictures as well as new videos soon.  Tekoa will probably start Brazil Butt Lift for this next round and I will be starting a bulking hybrid I am putting together.  We have purchased RevAbs (from the trainer Brett Hoebel who is currently on this season’s “The Biggest Loser”), Brazil Butt Lift, Insanity, P90X+, Hip Hop Abs, TurboFire, Slim In 6, another copy of P90X, another copy of Power 90, One on One w/ Tony Horton 30-15 Upper Body Massacre, Diamond Delts, and Shoulders and Arms MC2.  We now have a full arsenal to try out to have more information on all these programs for any of you that have questions about them.

Just remember… if you fall off it is never too late to jump back on the horse and re-commit yourself for success!  We are not perfect and have gone through tough trials since we have started our lifestyle change, but what is important is that we never gave up.  We fell, but never stayed down.  We dusted ourselves off and jumped back on.  We are committed to these programs and we are committed to you.  Please do not hesitate to come to us if you are struggling in any area!

“Push Play”, “Dig Deeper” and “Bring It”!

Being a college athlete I've used p90x to help me accomplish more results but this is definitely a wake up call to perform better and stay committed.

Yoga definitely gets easier as you lose weight. We ended up substituting the Fountain of Youth Yoga for the Yoga X because it is only about 45 minutes and we liked the flow of it better.

I started P90X on 2-9-11 while my wife was out of town for business, when she returned home she wanted to do it also so we started fresh on 2-21-11. We both really struggle with the yoga x. we do what we can and are hoping it gets more do able as we lose more weight. Thinking about substituting it with something else. Any suggestions?

Thank you John! Congrats on Starting Power 90! That is great that you and your wife are doing it together. I don't think we would have had near the success without the motivation and support from each other. You will get used to preparing the food. We seemed to get in a good grove with it which made it pretty efficient. Its all part of the lifestyle change! :)

Thank you for this post! My wife and I stumbled upon your power 90 transformation video on YouTube a week or so ago. We started power 90 Monday. It's been very time consuming preparing the food, but we've done it so far and plan to finish. I'm so glad to hear you and your wife will be posting your latest results soon, we've been checking in regularly. You've made such great changes for yourselves and you are an inspiration to others. God bless, and keep up the great work!
