Tummy Issues

It’s 60 day picture time and I haven’t seen a difference in my tummy for a while.  I have a little pooch that I’m passionate about getting rid of.  So I’ve decided that for these last 30 days of P90X I’ll keep close track of my diet, using the ‘fitday’ mobile app and website www.fitday.com , making sure to stick to the fat-shredder ratio of 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat.  Because I don’t want to lose much, if any, weight I will be sure to eat 1800 calories a day.
As of today my tummy measurements are as follows: waist = 28 inches, love handle area = 31.5 inches.  Let’s see how big of a difference I can make in 30 days.  I hope and expect to have a noticeable improvement in my measurements and my photo comparisons by day 90 of P90X.  Bring it!

Gabbie, Extra skin may never go away, but it is possible to diminish the look of it. Clean eating, lots of water and patience will give you the best results you can achieve in losing that pooch and allowing your extra skin to tighten up some. As for the fluctuation in your weight, are you tracking your calories? I use FitDay mobile and the FitDay website to track my daily calories and ratios. If you still have some weight to lose, sticking to a daily ratio of 50% (lean) protein, 30% (whole grain) carbs, 20% fat will help boost you out of your plateau. Adding Shakeology to your diet is another great way to give your body an added boost and start seeing results again. The Shakeology will also help tremendously with beating cravings.

Dear coach tekoa, Wow! It's amazing to hear those stories ladies. Keep up the good work! Coach tekoa, I'm amazed and your husband's journey. My husband and I have reached beyond our goal. I have the same situation with you rite now which is that lil pooch. After finished with p90x, my weight has been up and down. I weigh myself everyday( I will try not to),and it is kind of disappointing knowing you are at the same weight for almost a month. I am getting desperate. Is it cos I'm not sticking my diet like I stick when I was doing p90x. It seemed I can't control my cravings for chocolate. I wouldn't eat it as much but I would cheat 2 days. Is that what's making me not being able to get tone? And I did some research about loosing extra skin would be imposible. Is it true? Thanks

Thanks Nick and Chris! Yeah, whenever I weigh myself, I always do it first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom, same time, same scale at home and before I drink or eat anything. After not working out for over 2 years, I am slowly feeling my strength and flexibility just starting to wake up and come back. I feel great after every work out when Tony says "Nice work. See you tomorrow." That is the BEST feeling knowing I got through another day! Thanks again guys!

You are right Nick. It is more than just the scale. The fact that your clothes are getting looser is what points out that you are making progress. We always weighed ourselves first thing in the morning before eating or drinking as well (and after we use the bathroom)

I to was guilty of weighing everyday in the beginning, and would get discouraged as well. I've started weighing in on sunday morning and maybe on wednesday. And always be consistant. Meaning weigh in at the same time same place same scale. I always weigh as soon as I get up before eating or drinking. Remember water weighs 8lbs per gallon. I find more encouragement from my clothes fitting looser.

Thanks Tekoa!! :) For the guys reading this, sorry for the "female references" but it's a fact of life for us ladies! I got my period on day 5 going into day 6 of Power90 and my weight has only moved by maybe half a pound. That's too much of a coincidence and probably is why my weight doesn't seem to be moving. I'm probably just retaining water. Whew! Tekoa, I will try to follow your advice on weighing myself only once per week. Ugh, it's so hard to resist getting on that scale every morning! And 7 lbs your first week is impressive! Maybe it's like you said - working out first thing in the morning on an empty stomach might be the way to get the most bang for our buck/effort. I've been working out mid-day just before lunch due to my schedule w/my twin infants. I'll try to move the workouts to the morning. Finally, I like the idea of doing only "weekly" weigh-ins and what you said about "losing an average of 2lbs per week through to the end of the program" because it will help me change my thinking and therefore my motivation will follow! I have not stopped pushing play and will just believe and keep going! Thanks again! :)

Hi Jackie - Don't get discouraged! Our weight loss fluctuated all the time and I did notice weight gain during my menstrual cycle. One bit of advice (which I was not good at following myself) is only weigh yourself once per week. I would get discouraged when I saw the fluctuations as well.... which is why you should only weight yourself weekly :) The first week was great for me as I lost 7 pounds that week. The following weeks were not near that much. Your initial weight loss may have also included water weight. You are only in week 2 and if you remain consistent in pushing "play" every day and following the nutrition properly every day you will reach your goals. You are doing great! Just think of it this way... If you lose an average of 2 pounds per week you will have lost 26 pounds by the end of 90 days.

I am so bummed today and starting to get discouraged a little. I just finished my first week of Power 90 and for the first several days, I dropped about one pound per day...until day 6 where I stalled at 149.6 for two days. On day 8 I was 148.6. Finally resuming weight loss, right? WRONG. Today on day 9, I am back up to 149.2. WTH??? I am sticking to the nutrition plan and giving the workout my all! I wonder if it has anything to do with me having my menstrual cycle right now? Ever experience this?

Any noticeable difference by making this change?
