Homemade Protein Bars

homemade protein bars recipe Homemade Protein BarsHey Team D2R!  I have been promising you a healthy protein bar recipe so here it is!  I have a few different options for you depending on what you have for protein and other ingredients.  These homemade protein bars give you a great option for a snack on the go.  Most protein bars you can purchase are VERY processed with a lot of added junk. In the spirit of good health, here is the recipe we use.  One of our Team D2R members Shari W. came up with the recipe and I made a couple small changes to work for me.  These are gluten free recipes.

Homemade Protein Bars (Gluten Free Vegan and Non-Vegan Options)

  • Approx 2.25 cups chocolate protein powder (We use Sunwarrior Raw Vegan Chocolate Protein Powder)  You can make a non-vegan version by just using some high quality chocolate whey protein (We have liked BlueBonnet brand Whey Protein Isolate)*  NOTE:  YOU WILL PROBABLY NEED A DIFFERENT MEASUREMENT OF PROTEIN IF YOU DO NOT USE SUN WARRIOR.  Just add more of the other protein to give the batch a thick dough consistency.
  • 1 cup gluten free rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 Tbs 100% pure organic maple syrup
  • Approx 1.25 cups unsweetened almond milk*
  • 1 Tbs Stevia in the Raw

Mix everything together into a thick dough and press with your hands into an 11×7 baking dish. Refrigerate for about an hour then cut into bars – makes 12 bars. I individually wrap them and store them in the fridge for a grab and go snack.

*You might need to add more almond milk or more protein powder if the bars are not the right consistency.  They should be just slightly sticky, but more of a dough texture.

Great recipe Chris! I saw this info last night on your site and figured I would try it today. Absolutely love it! Thanks!

Great recipe! I used xylitol instead of stevia the first time. More recently I added a finely diced apple instead of the sugar substitute and it was a nice change of pace. Just the right amount of sweetness. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Guys, Great website and fantastic results. I completed Power 90 and lost about 35 lbs. On my last month of RevAbs and then will either start Insanity or P90X. I tried the recipe above, but is it really 3 Tbs of Stevia in the Raw? that would be like 25-30 packets. Thanks Dave

Thanks Dave - I am not sure how much is in a packet... we buy the bulk bag of it. Yes we put in 3 tbsp, but you could leave some out and taste it to see how it is.
