When my husband (Chris) and I were dating we dined out almost every day, sometimes twice a day.  In that year we both gain a decent amount of “happy weight”.  After we got married, I started a new job which required me to spend all day sitting at a desk.  We had fallen into some very bad eating habits (eating late at night, eating fatty food full of bad carbs, eating portions that were too large).  After a few more years of weight gain, we had our wonderful baby girl.  By this point I was the heaviest I’d ever been.  Being 5’4″ and weighing 151 lbs. I felt embarrassed about the way I looked.  For years I swore to myself that someday I would get back in shape, but I had become lazy and never got around to it.

Having friends who started P90X made my husband and I want to finally make a change ourselves, but P90X looked too intense for us.  We found the Power 90 program and were encouraged by the fact that it seemed more doable.  We committed to the workouts and the nutrition plan and held each other accountable on the tough days.  Within the first few days I noticed an increase in energy and stamina and by the end of the first week I had lost 7 lbs. and Chris had lost 10!  It was already working better than we expected!  60 days into Power 90 we added Shakeology to our diets and boy did we feel a difference!  We had even more energy throughout the day and just felt an overall boost!

At the beginning I set an ultimate goal of weighing 120 lbs. again.  I honestly never expected to reach that goal, but I did!  In 100 days I lost 31 pounds bringing me to a weight of 120 lbs. and I lost 21.2 inches!  My body fat dropped 9.8% from 31% to 21.2%!  I dropped from a size 12 to a size 2, smaller than I was on my wedding day!

Super excited about our transformations and feeling empowered to take our fitness to the next level, my husband and I enthusiastically took on (the once dreaded) P90X!  It was more intense than Power 90 and took more of a time commitment each day, but it was worth it watch myself become stronger and more fit than ever before.  We have completed our first round of P90X and my strength, endurance and fitness level have all surpassed my expectations.  I dropped another 4 inches from P90X and my weight stayed the same so I gained a bit of fat burning muscle!  My body fat is at an amazing 19% which means I have dropped a total of 12% body fat.  I definitely didn’t “bulk up” from P90X and that wasn’t my goal.  I just wanted to build my strength and lose a little more fat.  I did just that!

This “lifestyle change”, as Chris and I call it, is one of the best decisions we have ever made.  We will now live longer, fuller, healthier lives.  We not only look and feel better than ever, but we are setting a good example for our daughter.

    Yes – I didn’t have a job! :) I was actually laid off a year and a half before I started the program … one week before I found out I was pregnant.

    I’m starting p90x on Monday. My goal is to lose body fat and gain muscle (to be Lean). I’m 33 years old, 5 ’4 “and weight 127 pounds (most of my fat is concentrated on my belly) Should I start with 1800 calories (sometimes I think will be too much) or between 1200 to 1400 calories? I’ll do the” Classic “and Phase 1 Fat Shredder. Thanks!!

    Hi Roberta! Based on where you’re starting, I recommend going with 1500 calories and following the Fat Shredder ratio. After about a month, you’ll want to switch to the Energy Booster ratio.
